THE ROLE

The Coatings Yard Manager oversees all daily operations within the coatings yard, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards. The role combines protective coatings expertise with strong leadership, workflow coordination, and compliance oversight. Experience with asbestos processes and NACE/AMPP certification are beneficial but not essential.

You will be responsible for a variety of duties such as;

  • Manage day‑to‑day coatings yard operations from initial job setup through to completion
  • Oversee yard facilities, plant, tools, and equipment to ensure they are maintained and operational
  • Ensure all activities comply with HSEQ requirements, procedures, and regulatory obligations
  • Monitor project costs, productivity, and resource use to meet deadlines and budget targets
  • Coordinate direct labour, labour‑hire personnel, and subcontractors to support project delivery
  • Allocate and delegate work effectively to maintain workflow efficiency and quality outcomes
  • Conduct progress reporting, maintain documentation, and participate in weekly planning meetings
  • Provide technical guidance on coatings processes, surface preparation, materials, and inspection requirements
  • Lead problem‑solving efforts and support continuous improvement across yard operations
  • Maintain strong quality control practices, including inspection oversight and adherence to specifications
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure safe work practices are consistently applied

ABOUT YOU

  • A strong understanding of protective coating systems, surface preparation, application methods, and industry standards
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and delivering coating or maintenance projects
  • Strong scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder communication skills
  • Ability to manage contractors, timelines, and quality outcomes
  • Understanding of QA/QC processes related to coating inspection and application
  • Ability to document, audit, and ensure adherence to specifications and standards
  • NACE / AMPP Coating Inspector Level 1, 2, or 3 (highly regarded but not essential)
  • Certification or prior exposure to asbestos-related projects is advantageous but not essential
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, and ability to promote and enforce safety culture across teams and contractors
