Prepare, present, and deliver tenders valued up to $100 million across diverse projects, including Defence, Government, Building & Façade, Fit-out, Water, Fuel, Mining, and Industrial sectors.
THE ROLE
This role is ideal for someone with experience in Defence, Commercial, Remediation, and Infrastructure projects.
As a Senior Estimator, you will work closely with the Pre-Contracts/Estimating Manager and National Estimating Leads to ensure the accurate preparation, presentation, and follow-up of tenders for Duratec.
Join our dynamic bidding team and contribute to major construction projects nationwide. You will play a pivotal role in shaping innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions within the estimating process, supported by a collaborative and experienced team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop pricing models using productivity data, industry norms, and historical trends.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and escalation analysis.
- Compile quantity take-offs and bills of quantities.
- Draft scopes of work and tender documentation.
- Break down trade packages, manage RFQs, and engage subcontractors for pricing accuracy.
- Attend site visits, including remote and interstate.
- Submit and respond to tender clarifications promptly.
- Review subcontractor pricing, clarifications, and exclusions across disciplines.
- Identify missing information via RFIs to complete tender documentation.
- Conduct commercial, risk, and profitability reviews per company standards.
- Perform risk analysis and value engineering for cost savings.
- Support construction methodology, program development, and submission documentation.
- Provide detailed tender handover with full traceability and pre-contract support.
- Deliver comprehensive tenders and assist during execution.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Manage multiple tenders without compromising accuracy.
- Grow national subcontractor and supplier base.
- Apply structured, transparent pricing with compliance checks.
- Mentor junior estimators.
ABOUT YOU
Your adaptability and proactive approach will ensure success in this role. You will bring:
- 6+ years’ estimating experience across Defence, Building & Façade, Civil, Remediation, Infrastructure, Construction, Process/Non-Process Infrastructure, and Water/Wastewater (preferred).
- Proven bid management and tender preparation expertise with full compliance.
- Strong subcontractor and supply chain relationships.
- Solid financial and commercial acumen.
- Confident, professional, and self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project) and estimating software (e.g., Pronamics Expert, Bluebeam).
