THE ROLE

In collaboration with the Pre-Contracts Manager and Estimating Leads you will be responsible for accurate bid preparation, presentation, and follow-up of all Defence sector tenders for Duratec Australia.

Ensure the detailed cost estimate is delivered to set business standards and assist in the coordination of all tendering activities to maximise the probability of success.

• Prepare and develop accurate cost estimates
• Compile accurate material quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities
• Assist with preparing and developing construction methodologies, programs and submission documentation
• Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates
• Prepare risk and opportunity including cost escalation analysis for estimates
• Review designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives where applicable
• Hand over detailed tenders with traceability and support into pre-contracts and delivery
• Assist in supervision of other Estimators assigned to the estimating group
• Coordinate team activities and conduct tender cost estimate review meetings
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive relationships

 ABOUT YOU

Your ability to be adaptable and proactive will see you succeed in this role. You will bring:

• Significant experience working within a head contractor environment
• Exposure to Defence the sector construction and engineering (highly desirable)
• Awareness of the need to obtain additional information or seek clarification through RFI’s to the Client to ensure a complete set of tender documents
• Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism and confidence
• A strong financial and commercial acumen
• The ability to identify new opportunities and ensure a high success rate of team bids
• High level of attention to detail
• The ability to work to set timeframes while multitasking
• Capability to present estimates to Senior Management for approval to submit
• Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or similar equivalent
