Drive and champion positive safety behaviours, enabling a proactive culture within Darwin teams, to ensure overall HSEQ compliance with management system policies, management plans and procedures. Project scopes involve marine, Defence and construction remediation works.
This opportunity is open to both experienced HSEQ Advisors and Senior HSEQ Advisors. Permanent Monday to Friday position based out of our office in Darwin, NT with occasional site travel across the state.
YOUR ROLE
- Deliver sustainable outcomes in HSE through visible leadership and significant personal contribution to HSE improvement strategies
- Lead and implement initiatives focussed on safety culture
- As part of the Northern Territory Management Team; involvement and engagement in the business strategy
- Build trusting relationships with your team of HSE advisors and Delivery Teams offering your support and guidance
- Lead, influence and utilise your HSEQ skills and experience to support project teams
- Ensure HSE requirements, processes and systems are adhered to
- Investigate incidents, accidents and injuries, and support return to work programs
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and regular review of the Duratec HSE Management System
- Participate and facilitate internal and external system audits, implementing corrective actions
- Provide advice, input, and guidance in the review of HSE plans during tender submissions in the region when needed
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum of 5-7 years experience in the Construction/Defence/Marine sector
- You will be an enthusiastic advocate of safety with the ability to influence others
- A great communicator and recognise the essential role of every employee, subcontractor and site leader in delivering safe work outcomes on our projects
- Have previously led and guided a HSE team in the Construction / Defence / Mining Industry
- You will be an encouraging team player with the ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines
- Have an essential qualification in Health & Safety, or equivalent
- Be proactive and visible on site - be present on site, engaging with the teams of supervisors, managers, subcontractors and suppliers to identify risks early
- Hands on management of HSEQ outcomes - This role is not desk based.
- Actively support planning, inspections, permits, risk reviews and investigations, working alongside the delivery team to achieve safe and compliant outcomes.
- Champion HSEQ initiatives and work proactively to manage risks.
- Add value to delivery teams - be practical problem solver who help projects progress safely, balancing risk control with constructability, productivity and program requirements.
