In collaboration with the Pre‑Contracts Manager and Estimating Leads, the Senior Estimator will be responsible for the accurate preparation, presentation, and follow‑up of tenders for Duratec. The role will predominantly support various building, façade, defence, and remediation projects across our growing QLD division, while also contributing to tender submissions for major construction projects Australia‑wide.
As a key member of our bidding team, you will help shape innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions within the overall estimate, working alongside a large and supportive national team committed to excellence in project delivery.
THE ROLE
- Prepare and develop accurate cost estimates, including cost escalation analysis
- Compile accurate material quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities
- Support the preparation and development of construction methodologies, programs and submission documentation
- Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates
- Construction of tender programs
- Identify the need for additional information or clarification through RFIs to ensure complete tender documents
- Review designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness
- Review and validate subcontractor pricing across all service disciplines
- Deliver detailed tenders with traceability and provide support for pre-contracts and delivery
- Coordinate team activities and conduct tender cost estimate review meetings
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive relationships

ABOUT YOU
- Previous experience in estimating in Defence, Construction and/or building remediation
- First principal experience with pricing internal labour to complete work scopes
- Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, professionalism and self-motivation
- A strong financial and commercial acumen
- High level attention to detail and the ability to work to set timeframes while multitasking
- Capability to present your estimates to Senior Management for approval to submit
- Actively seek additional information or clarification through RFI’s to the Client to ensure a complete set of tender documents
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or similar equivalent
- Proficient in Pronamics Expert Estimation software desirable
